Chapter Nineteen
Kaalek
Even though there was no light to wake me, my body roused me at what I suspected was my usual waking time. I blinked, absorbing the darkness and the fact that I was curled up against something soft.
Tara. Her body was tucked inside the curve of my larger one, her ass pressed into my abdomen. I gritted my teeth and willed my cock not to rise, although it was already swelling. My tail, which draped over the gentle rise of her hip, twitched with arousal. I moved it off her body and behind mine.
I didnât know how we ended up sleeping body-to-body, but I suspected she would not be pleased to wake and find me on her again, even if this time I was only lying on my side with her next to me. And soon my cock would be rock-hard and poking her legs.
I rolled away slowly, then realized one of my arms was pinned underneath her. Tvek! As I tried to extricate myself, lights came on in the tunnel and illuminated the room.
âGreetings of the day,â Fenrey said merrily, as he walked in carrying a tray.
I yanked my arm hard, sending Tara spinning off the bed and onto the floor.
âSon of a bitch!â she cried, pulling herself up by the edge of the bed and glaring at me. âDid you push me?â
âIt looked like you just rolled right off,â the Carlogian said, before I could defend myself. He set the tray at the foot of the bed and hurried over to her. âLet me help you up, dear.â
Tara rubbed her elbows as she stood, still giving me a side-eye glance. âLucky for you I didnât break my arm.â
Fenrey reached over and lifted her gown slightly. âAnd your ankle looks healed.â
I followed his gaze and saw that he was right. Taraâs ankle, which had been swollen and purple the day before, looked almost normal. I would have to talk to that Coxley fellow about his ointment. Something that healed wounds so quickly would be an asset on a Vandar warbird.
âIt feels like nothing ever happened to it,â Tara admitted, swiveling her foot in the air.
Fenrey bobbed his head up and down. âYou wonât find a healer as skilled as Coxley.â His gaze moved up from her foot, his eyes shrewd. âWell the gown certainly suits.â He put his hand up to his mouth and pretended to talk to her behind it. âMuch better than that absurd ensemble you had on yesterday.â Then he glanced at me and the nightshirt draped over the foot of the bed. âI see others prefer to be au naturel.â
Despite my ease at being naked, warmth tinged my cheeks.
âItâs all right.â He fluttered a hand at me. âNot everyone prefers sleeping clothes, but donât worry. I have quite the outfit for you today.â
I gazed longingly at my battle kilt, but knew he was right. Even though I wouldnât easily fit in among the Carlogians, my Vandar clothing would make it impossible. âI look forward to trying it on.
